Work at Upstock
Intermediate/Senior Backend Engineer
30 November 2021
About the opportunity
Want to be a part of a startup that’s working to improve the lives of your local food suppliers, cafes, restaurants, bars – the owners and their staff? Maybe you want to make a difference working with amazing people on a fun and fulfilling project? Upstock is hiring a backend engineer!
We’re a friendly, highly capable, experienced team – run by key people who designed and built Xero. We’re aiming to revolutionise the hospitality scene. Our goal is to create an app and marketplace that helps hospo businesses grow while being extremely quick and intuitive to use. Upstock is an essential tool that saves time, reduces costly errors, improves business every day – it lets our customers get on with more important things in life, like perfecting that new smashed avo recipe. We’ve got many of NZ’s best food & beverage brands, restaurants, bars and cafes on the platform, along with customers in Australia and the United States.
We're looking for someone who can communicate effectively, is comfortable working remotely, enjoys thinking about the bigger picture, and has a strong understanding of how to build production .NET 5 services. Bonus if you have battle experience in any of the following: AWS/ECS, SQL Server, event-driven systems, EDI or third party integrators.
We’re a small, tight-knit and nimble company that's focused on understanding our customers' problems and solving them in real-time. We define and measure against customer outcomes, not by lines of code written or by tasks completed. We avoid unnecessary meetings. We value growth and learning. You'll have the flexibility to make an immediate impact, that will help shape the company, our product and our customers’ daily lives.
Compensation and benefits
- Competitive salary
- Stock options
- Flexible work schedule
- We offer an allowance for your tech equipment and home office
- Reimbursed meals when dining at a customer’s venue as part of customer visits
- We're focused on having fun, building well crafted software, growing a business we love for customers we adore
- Read all about who we are and our guiding principles
- We’re a small, early stage team, so you have a lot of influence over shaping our culture
- We plan to stay small and grow sensibly, to maintain balance and agility
